Building

An application for a building permit must be lodged with Council for all building activity within the Fraser Coast Regional Council. For detailed information on what is required when submitting a building application please contact 1800 881 400.

 

Exception - Exempt Development

 

  • Building Work for a Class 10 building used exclusively as a greenhouse, conservatory, summerhouse, fuel shed, lawn locker, tool house, cycle shed, avairy, milking bail, hayshed, stable, fowlhouse, pigsty or barn or for a similiar purpose, if -
    on land used for agricultural, horticultural, floricultural or pastoral purposes; and
    no part of the building is within 200m of a road or a boundary of the land on which the building is situated.
  • Affixing minor attachments to an existing building such as sun hoods projecting no more than one metre from the building, sun blinds, roof ventilators, basketball hoops or similiar attachments.
    Building minor structures no higher than 3 metres above natural ground level, such as playground and sporting equipment, garden furniture, tempory market stalls, minor plant and equipment covers and similiar structures.
    Repairs and maintenance to an existing building or structure if -
    the structural adequacy of the building or structure is not reduced; and
    fire safety of the building or structure is not reduced.
    Illegal Structures
  • Persons erecting or causing to be erected illegal structures within the Shire will be liable to prosecution.
  • Temporary Structures / Accommodation
  • Those intending to erect a permanent dwelling may be permitted to occupy a tempory structure for a specified period of time. Permission for temporary occupancy is subject to Council approval but any such application in this regard must be accompanied with a building application for a permanent dwelling.
